We've said it before, we'll say it again. Because it's true, and because it's a big part of what makes competitive Speedgolf so thrilling: Every second counts!
For that reason, Speedgolfers instinctively push their games to the limit. Who wants to lose by a few seconds knowing somewhere in the round they stopped giving 100%?
It causes anguish when you're on the wrong side of the clock, and it feels exhilarating when the hands of time fall your way. Jason, a fixture in our sport, is familiar with both scenarios.
In part II of our conversation with 'The Hawk', we cover his 3 US national championship experiences, culminating in a hard fought, long-awaited victory at this year's showing.

The Hawk is back on the POC, this time as the reigning US National Champion! Jason's evolution as one of the top Speedgolfers in the world is an inspiring journey of perpetual, patient improvement and quiet confidence.
In spite of several setbacks along the way, Hawkins has buttoned up a career year with 3 wins in 4 starts, including the Vegas Extreme Challenge, the KYSGO, and most recently 3rd annual US Speedgolf Champs.
In part I today, we discuss his golfing and fitness history, as well as his competitive road to the US Champs in Houston, Texas less than one month ago.
Stay tuned for part II, where we cover his climb to a national championship victory over the last three years.

"The journey of a thousands miles begins with one step." - Lao Tzu
The longest course is in the world is in Australia. It's called Nullarbor Links and it traverses over 1,000 miles from the 1st tee to the 18th green. The idea for the course came from Alf Caputo and Bob Bongiorno over a bottle of red wine in a small roadhouse off the famed Eyre Highway.
Since its official opening in 2009, few people have played the entire course at once. Nobody has ever thought to Speedgolf Nullarbor Links...until now.
Ben Taylor, our very own POC host, will soon become the first person to attempt the 1,365km Speedgolf journey across the Nullarbor Plain. Why? BT explains it all in this episode of the POC.
Show your support for BT! All funds raised will go directly to the Movember movement, a charitable foundation addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. You can give directly at https://au.movember.com

We talk a lot on the POC about the personal benefits that Speedgolf offers golfers, runners, and anyone looking to enjoy and active and healthy lifestyle.
For some, Speedgolf provides that much needed 'me' time. For others it's a fast way to do something fun and fitness-oriented with friends.
For Brooke Thrall – one of the most dedicated women in our sport, it's certainly a combination of both. But it's more than just those things. Brooke has found a way to leverage her passion for Speedgolf to help herself and at the same time others in need.
On Sunday, September 8th Brooke will be raising money through the World Vision organization, which supplies children in need with clean and sustainable water for life. Her goal is to run 20 miles during and after the 22nd annual Bob-n-broc Speedgolf tournament at Rich Valley Golf Club in Rosemount, MN.
Running that far requires months of training, sacrifice, and self-discipline, so let's rally around Brooke and help her achieve her goal of raising $10,000. Thanks for you support!

It's going to happen: Speedgolf is destined to scale. Are we there yet? No. But the Master Plan has been put into action, and at its foundation is the grassroots methodology Garlin has employed over the years running Speedgolf SoCal.
It hasn't been easy, but what Smith and so many other ambassadors around the country and world have discovered...it's so worth it! Enjoy the back half of our conversation with the 2017 SGUSA Ambassador of the Year, Garlin Smith.

For this historic episode we brought in one of the great ambassadors of Speedgolf since he discovered it in 2013.
As a successful brand marketing and advertising executive, Garlin Smith knows what it will take for Speedgolf to reach the masses. It what he's doing with that knowledge that runs counter to many people's ideas about how this slow-to-develop, faster version of the traditional game will reach its tipping point.
Enjoy Part II with the Founder and Director of Speedgolf Southern California. Next up, Part I.
*The POC is headed to Kentucky this week for the 3rd annual Kentucky Speedgolf Championships. Stay tuned for some great player interviews when we return.
Until then pick up the pace, play from your heart!

For Garrett Holt, a PGA Head Pro in Springfield, Missouri – Speedgolf makes perfect sense. When he first came across the young sport in the winter of 2014 not only did he personally find it appealing, as a competitor both in golf and running, but he also understood the benefits Speedgolf possessed for the open-minded golf course owner/operator.
Garrett carries a quiet passion for Speedgolf and for life in general. He's been a tremendous addition to the Speedgolf community, growing participation in his local market, hosting multiple Tour events throughout the year, and playing his way onto the SGPR, where he currently sits at #20 in the World. Enjoy!
Topics include:
-Garrett's origin story
-Speedgolf Springfield
-Competitive aspirations
-Holt's weekly training regimen
-Mountaintop tournament recap
-Garrett's 2019 competitive schedule

It's Thanksgiving 2018, and we're thankful you are tuning in to the POC. Last week we announced the addition of two new podcast hosts, Ben Taylor and Troy Levier from Australia.
This week we are going to get you better acquainted with the familiar voices you will be hearing from monthly in 2019. Troy Levier goes first and takes us on a trip down memory lane and recounts his entry into the game of Golf and more recently Speedgolf.
Next week Ben Taylor will do his level best to win your hearts, minds, and ears with his personal and professional bio. Finally, the pair will highlight the kinds of guests and show they plan to release in the new year.

Today we have some exciting announcements to make on the podcast. The first is our decision to relaunch the POC in 2019 as the world's first weekly podcast devoted exclusively to the sport of Speedgolf! This represents one small step for the POC, and one giant leap for the sport of Speedgolf.
To help make this a reality, we've called upon two passionate and talented Aussie Speedgolfers: Ben Taylor and Troy Levier. These two made their unofficial debut as Instagram Live commentators during the Speedgolf Team World Cup in October. If you watched, you know what we're talking about!
Once a month BT and Super T (aka Froggy) will cover the international Speedgolf scene in their own style: witty, humorous, insightful. Look forward to hearing from guests like '18 New Zealand SG Open Champion Jamie Reid, the UK's Speedy George Boxall, and top ranked women's Speedgolfer Liz McKinnon (NZ).
Help us welcome Ben and Troy to the POC – Like, Share, Subscribe, and Leave them a review on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, or Player FM.

Mikko Rantanen, a former mini-tour professional, started playing Speedgolf in 2015. At first casually and then in October 2016 Rantanen took part in his first Speedgolf tournament: the 2016 Speedgolf World Championships in Chicago.
In 2017 - 2018 Mikko has organized a Speedgolf Tour in Finland (5 tournaments + National Championship) which has kept him playing competitively.
"Speedgolf is a great way to improve my overall fitness level, allows me to play more golf because regular golf takes too long, and it also brings a new dimension & challenge to the game, which I really enjoy. I believe it has also helped to play better regular golf." - Mikko Rantanen
During summertime Rantanen plays 2-3 rounds of Speedgolf each week, along with some interval running training as well as long distance training. Mikko even organized a Speedgolf triathlon and a Speedgolf marathon earlier this year, which were tough events and helped him get fit.
If you want to improve your fitness level, play more golf and play better golf, Mikko says you should try Speedgolf.
His advice for first-timers? First you need to get out on the course and give it a try - early in the morning or late in the evening when there are no players in front. Take a pencil bag or junior bag with 6 clubs (for example driver or a 3 wood, irons 5, 7, 9 and sand wedge and a putter) and aim for 90 minutes by jogging from the tee to fairway and to the green, walk around the greens. Use running or trail running shoes rather that golf shoes.
"Keep you routines quick, but don't rush. Just look react & trust your instincts. You’ll be surprised by how well you can play. Enjoy the challenge!"
