It's Thanksgiving 2018, and we're thankful you are tuning in to the POC. Last week we announced the addition of two new podcast hosts, Ben Taylor and Troy Levier from Australia.
This week we are going to get you better acquainted with the familiar voices you will be hearing from monthly in 2019. Troy Levier goes first and takes us on a trip down memory lane and recounts his entry into the game of Golf and more recently Speedgolf.
Next week Ben Taylor will do his level best to win your hearts, minds, and ears with his personal and professional bio. Finally, the pair will highlight the kinds of guests and show they plan to release in the new year.

Today we have some exciting announcements to make on the podcast. The first is our decision to relaunch the POC in 2019 as the world's first weekly podcast devoted exclusively to the sport of Speedgolf! This represents one small step for the POC, and one giant leap for the sport of Speedgolf.
To help make this a reality, we've called upon two passionate and talented Aussie Speedgolfers: Ben Taylor and Troy Levier. These two made their unofficial debut as Instagram Live commentators during the Speedgolf Team World Cup in October. If you watched, you know what we're talking about!
Once a month BT and Super T (aka Froggy) will cover the international Speedgolf scene in their own style: witty, humorous, insightful. Look forward to hearing from guests like '18 New Zealand SG Open Champion Jamie Reid, the UK's Speedy George Boxall, and top ranked women's Speedgolfer Liz McKinnon (NZ).
Help us welcome Ben and Troy to the POC – Like, Share, Subscribe, and Leave them a review on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, or Player FM.

Mikko Rantanen, a former mini-tour professional, started playing Speedgolf in 2015. At first casually and then in October 2016 Rantanen took part in his first Speedgolf tournament: the 2016 Speedgolf World Championships in Chicago.
In 2017 - 2018 Mikko has organized a Speedgolf Tour in Finland (5 tournaments + National Championship) which has kept him playing competitively.
"Speedgolf is a great way to improve my overall fitness level, allows me to play more golf because regular golf takes too long, and it also brings a new dimension & challenge to the game, which I really enjoy. I believe it has also helped to play better regular golf." - Mikko Rantanen
During summertime Rantanen plays 2-3 rounds of Speedgolf each week, along with some interval running training as well as long distance training. Mikko even organized a Speedgolf triathlon and a Speedgolf marathon earlier this year, which were tough events and helped him get fit.
If you want to improve your fitness level, play more golf and play better golf, Mikko says you should try Speedgolf.
His advice for first-timers? First you need to get out on the course and give it a try - early in the morning or late in the evening when there are no players in front. Take a pencil bag or junior bag with 6 clubs (for example driver or a 3 wood, irons 5, 7, 9 and sand wedge and a putter) and aim for 90 minutes by jogging from the tee to fairway and to the green, walk around the greens. Use running or trail running shoes rather that golf shoes.
"Keep you routines quick, but don't rush. Just look react & trust your instincts. You’ll be surprised by how well you can play. Enjoy the challenge!"

Today, Dude Spellings and Chris Hundhausen are joined by Larry Levinson and Brian Noble. They are all great Speedgolfers, ambassadors of the sport, and they’re all over the age of 40. And that really is what the conversation is about today: how these four fine gentlemen are using Speedgolf to stay in shape, stay on the golf course in spite of their busy schedules, and stay competitive at an older age, often beating players in the field half their age.
How do they do it? Where do these ‘old guys’ focus their improvement efforts? Well, there isn’t one way when you’re talking about a biathlon sport. Let’s get into it. Dude, Chris, thanks for hosting, Larry, Brian, thanks for coming on.

Welcome back to The Pace Of Change Golf Podcast. Over the last couple of years we have seen a vast increase in the amount of Speedgolf content available on social media and the web.
When we started the POC that wasn't the case, so we focused on 21st century innovation in the game of golf and sought to interview the game changers in and around the industry.
Now that Speedgolf has gained significant traction, we're excited for the opportunity to shift our focus primarily to the emerging sport of Speedgolf, something we are not only passionate about covering, but also actively growing.
Today we're talking with Jamie Young, the reigning 2016 Speedgolf World Champion. On April 22nd, 7 of the top 15 world ranked players, along with a handful of courageous amateurs took on Cascata Golf Course outside of Las Vegas in the inaugural Vegas Extreme Speedgolf Challenge presented by Audi Henderson.
The course played 6,200 yards from the tees, but covered nearly 7 miles in length on foot. That translates to an additional 5,000 yards of running between holes. In addition, we played at an elevation of 2,500 feet above sea level, and endured a triple digit elevation gain - almost 1,200 feet of UP from the 1st tee to the 18th green.
Needless to say it was the most grueling Speedgolf event to date, yet every single competitor finished their round!
World Ranked #1, Mack McLain took home his 3rd consecutive tournament win with an impressive run of 65 minutes, and 87 strokes.
But the real story revolves around the play of Jamie Young, who shot an mind-blowing 1 over par 73 in 84 minutes. By comparison, the next closest golf score was 81, and behind that were three 87's.
Jamie's round will go down as one of the best Speedgolf appearances in the modern history (circa 2012) of our sport. Enjoy!
